    * Description:

    Ta-di Mountain is located in Ta-di Village, Mi-tuo Township with a length of about 800 meters and a width of about 600 meters. Its altitude at about 53 meters is the highest point in Mi-tuo Township. Due to the place being a military restricted area that has not been opened to the public for a long period of time, for the people from Mi-tuo Township or the large and small Gangshan districts, Ta-di Mountain had been perceived as a negligible small hill when viewed from afar. Until when Liao-song Cultural Layer was found under Ta-di Mountain, were Taiwan's unique badlands that are closest to the seaside gradually noticed.

    Ta-di Mountain is a precious natural asset endowed to Mi-tuo Township by Mother Nature, and it had been a restricted military stronghold area. The military finally withdrew in 2006 and management of Ta-di Mountain was handed over to Mi-tuo Tonwship Office. Ta-di Mountain Natural Park was then established and its mystery was unveiled. Step by step, construction such as the hiking and recreational trails, viewing platform, and greenification of the wide outbound/inbound roads in Ta-di Mountain have all been completed, making Ta-di Mountain a great place for hiking and leisure activities.

    Ta-di Badlands are also the continuation of Nan-hua mud rock layer, but they might not be formed the same way Wu-shan-tou mud volcano was formed. Due to the exposure of the mud rock layers, their rain-eroded surface has steepened the hill slopes. The soil on the rock surface is dry and loose, and it appears even more delicate with the poor water retention. Not only are the plants easy to grow on the rock surface, animals and plants ecological environments are also not as varied. The soil quality of Ta-di Mountain Badlands are categorized as mud rock, which is not water-penetrable, with micro particles in grayish white or grayish black colors. The pH value is around 6.7. Ta-di Mountain is composed of various sizes of mountains made of mud rocks. Besides the central mountain (i.e. fortress built by military), there are few small mountains in the surroundings. The terrain and appearance of the mountains would be different as the weather changes and during the rainy season. So far there are still two small mud jet holes in the mountain, which are located in central mountain with extremely small diameters from 3 to 5 cm. Today, in consideration of defense safety, the military has built cement at the mud jet holes to direct the mud rocks into the sewer.
